Project Overview

Home24 is Europe’s largest online destination for home furniture and decor. I worked as part of home24 UX team in order to improve the checkout pages experience.

Main pain points:

  • High drop rate in the payment page.
  • Difficulty in editing or adding a new address
  • Lack of help and support during the flow.

Collecting Data & Defining Problems:

We believe that there is no single source of truth. Therefore, the team initiated research by collecting data from various sources to identify the problems and challenges our customers face, as well as defining the pain points.

The data sources included:

  • Google Analytics: Analyzed Customer Journey, User Blockages, Conversion Funnel, and Screen Resolutions.
  • Customer Service: Provided insights via CS Reports and Interviews.
  • Mouseflow: Supported review with Heatmaps and Session Recordings.

Benchmarks & Trend Analysis:

Benchmarking helps us understand effective design approaches. We analyzed various checkout styles, including multiple and one-page options.

The process involved:

  • Capturing screenshots on all devices.
  • Documenting features.
  • Exploring potential solutions to address our problems, considering not only entire features but also wording choices.
  • Examining themes such as “Security,” “Trust,” and “Transparency.”
  • Analyzing current and emerging trends in the market.

Additionally, we reviewed Baymard Institute reports which contain 400 site reviews and ‘best practice’ guide.

Brainstorming & First Wireframes:

After collecting data from various sources, we filtered and grouped the information, breaking it down into manageable pieces. Based on this, we conducted a series of brainstorming sessions to generate hypotheses and potential solutions to our customers’ problems.

To assess the efficacy of the proposed solutions, we visually translated them into the first paper prototypes for quick testing.

Prototype & Pixel Perfect Design:

We gradually transitioned from creating high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes using tools like InvisionApp to conducting comprehensive usability testing. This involved creating various user scenarios and tasks for usability lab sessions. After several design iterations and testing, we decided to move to pixel-perfect designs across all devices.
